trauma informed living

Trauma is something that happens to all human beings. This class is intended to provide the foundations of how trauma can impact the mind and body in our daily life. It will focus on information and tools to increase our resiliency in navigating these impacts. It will include some resources for breathing practices, brain games and other ways to incorporate trauma sensitive living in your daily life.

trauma sensitive yoga

Trauma-Sensitive Yoga is a therapeutically focused yoga class that emphasizes choice and invitation so that each person can explore what variation would best support their body. This class blends Gentle and Restorative Yoga practices to ground the nervous system and calm the mind and body. The movements can be practiced sitting on the floor or in a chair and is great practice to unwind and settle from the day.

trauma sensitive yoga nidra

Yoga Nidra (Yogic Sleep) is an ancient practice that is intended to produce full body relaxation, support sleep, reduce stress and increase our awareness and connection with our bodies. When we experience physical pain, we can begin to tense and different contract parts of the body in response to that pain. Physical discomfort/pain and sleep challenges can commonly occur, especially after traumatic experiences or times when we are experiencing high stress.

Listening to this Yoga Nidra practice can be very supportive as you transition from work to homelife or at the end of the day as you prepare for sleep. It is very common to drift between a dreaming and waking state but do your best to stay awake and with the practice. If the stillness is challenging or if it you find it hard to stay awake, feel free to move your body as we scan through the body, open your eyes or even sit up if that would be more supportive.
