I used to think that growth always came from pushi I used to think that growth always came from pushing myself to the edge. So, I chose opportunities, relationships, and routines that were dramatic, tiring and unbalancing. Some of the greatest learning moments in my life came from the biggest upsets— chronic illness and trauma—so I figured that the path of real learning must lie in consistently choosing the hardest slog.  But the truth is, these hard lessons weren’t actually teaching me that I had to create a life of challenge in order to grow, but how important it was to learn how to cultivate peace in the midst of life’s hardships.  You can choose peace, even when everything in the world is telling you that you must push, strive, change, transform, end it all, or begin something new.  You can choose peace, even if that means upsetting the expectations of others.  You can choose peace and still change your life from the inside out. In fact, sometimes peace is the path to transformation itself.  You can choose peace and still be blessed with an abundance of creativity, love, nourishment and magic— it’ll just arrive differently. Less like an asteroid, and more like a the quiet blooming of a hawthorn in its own hallowed grove.
Joy is the feeling of a soul recommitting to its m Joy is the feeling of a soul recommitting to its mission.  When you tend to what makes you feel alive, you not only safeguard your hope for the future— you create a future that we all can look forward to seeing unfurl.  In tough times we can sometimes lose sight of why we are here, or what we truly have to give. Seeking what enlivens your spirit is how you enter back into your sacred contract with the very life-force that animates this world.  Your passions, your interests, those sparks that re-ignite your interest in life serve a sacred purpose.  Like a comet circling the atmosphere, they are here to point you in the direction of wonder and hope, the path of healing you were meant to walk in this life.  When you claim what brings you alive, you remember your reason for being alive.

Learning how to settle your body in the midst of o Learning how to settle your body in the midst of overwhelm, is nothing less than a training ground for fulfilling your soul’s mission here on earth.  When our nervous systems are are spacious and grounded, we can literally perceive and transmute more energy… and respond more skillfully.  Once we become settled in ourselves, all the things we try so hard to accomplish— advocacy, healing, innovation, intuition—become as natural as breathing.
